IS IT BY FORCE TO WRITE?
Public Group active 4 days, 11 hours agoIs that case of writer’s block getting you down? Do you find yourself constantly abandoning those oh-so-brilliant writing projects halfway? Are you getting fed up with how difficult it is to get your work published?
Well, whatever those writing issues are, this group is here to address them so feel free to air them out. We will not just be each others shoulders to lean - or cry - on, but also a source of encouragement and help to each other. So if you have a writing problem that has refused to go away, or if you think you can be of help to other writers, then you are very welcome.

Hi… i guess my problem just stems out of writing romance… it always turns out sappy and it looks like that is what people love to read most and what i hate to read, write most… yeah and long descriptive pieces… i am bad with that.. no patience in reading or writing ’em

Hi y’all, I just discovered that money can be an inspiration to write o! Ok, I’ve always written poetry without that in mind but short-stories or flash fictions kinda scare me. No, I love reading them but the length scares me out of composing one myself. Well, that was until the-day-before-yesterday. I finally began my 600words flash for The Vote Chronicles competition & finished it today. I guess a $150 prize can motivate. He he he… Watch out for ”THE NEO-JUJU” I can’t wait to read ur comments on my debut *winks*

@kaycee - something does. If nothing does, then everybody would be writing. Think inspiration is like love. That some people don’t believe in it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. So something really inspires you.

I write when I’m in the mood.Nothing sparks this mood on.I just wake sometimes and its there. -

Does a writer’s location determine the height in which he or she would reach? If Chimamanda Adichie hadn’t relocated to the US, and had published ’Half of ~a Yellow Sun’ in Nigeria, would she have reached the height she dwells in today..?
MY VIEW: I once told a writer-friend that I was going to do an ’MFA in creative writing’ in the US, and he discouraged me seriously. He said, ’Why don’t you use that money (about three million naira) to publish your many books here in Nigeria..?’ My friend had a single vision. He didn’t see a need for a creative writing school, and only sees a future of just getting manuscripts to the press… I’m not saying a writer must relocate to the west, but a writer should be willing to invest in travels… Traveling wildly should be part of a writer’s life…
Researched about Screenwriting Fellowships/contests and found out that most guys living in United States have won most of this awards. The major reason, Hollywood is the biggest film industry in the world. That means location plays a big role.

i think every writer must endeavor to be a traveler else, the materials turned out by such a one will be too shallow. as for traveling abroad to get published as a criteria for success, me i no fit argue o, we have great books published in Nigeria but they rot on the shelves with no recognition given to the writers..abeg if you fit go abroad you better go sharp, sharp
Let us hope things will change… Just like our nollywood and naija hiphop, naija writers would excel at home In Jesus Name….

I dont agree with you my broda, u dont need to travel anywhere. The only travel u need is reading, read wide, i vent been to Italy but i have taken a ride in its wonderful gondolas from books i’ve read, reading can take you round the world faster than an aeroplane.
Totally agree…travelling in the mind grows your imagination!
